SYC COMMITTEESGET INVOLVED!!! THIS IS A VOLUNTEER CLUB AND THERE ARE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO DONATE SOME TIME AND SKILLS. Message from the Commodore: Dear SYC Members, I announced at the club’s annual meeting Club committees that members can get involved in and provided the people present at the meeting an opportunity to sign up. We now have nine committees at the club, something for everyone. Here is a list of the committees as well as a brief description of them. House Committee The House Committee is responsible for the general supervision of the Club House, both interior and exterior. It will purchase necessary supplies and oversee the cleaning service and general maintenance of the Club. |

Float and Pram Committee This committee oversees the maintenance of the Club’s three prams as well as our float. This includes any repairs and painting needed prier to or during the boating season and seeing that the prams are stored away after the season. |

Launch CommitteeThis committee is responsible for the maintenance of the Club’s Launch (Ranger II). This includes preparing the Launch for the boating season, painting, washing and general repairs, as well as seeing to its clean-up and storage after the season. |

Race CommitteeThe race committee is responsible for all races held by, under the direction or authority of the Club as stated in the club’s by-laws. |

Function Committee This committee manages all functions at the S.Y.C. Their responsibilities include organizing people to help with the event, set-up and tear down the rooms, purchasing food, cooking and whatever else needs to be done to pull off a wonderful event. |

Maintenance CommitteeThis committee differs from the House Committee in that this committee does the “heavy lifting”. Any major construction or remodeling is the domain of this committee. |

Communication Committee This is a new committee is being formed to get the S.Y.C. out to the general public. Their mission will include documenting events, writing press releases and to get those events into publications such as the Swampscott Reporter. This group will work closely with the Archival Committee. |

S.Y.C. Archival CommitteeThis is a new committee formed to log events of the given year and to assemble them into book format, which will be kept on display at the club. The newsletter, news clippings and pictures taken at S.Y.C. events are some of the possible contents of the book. Their responsibilities do not have to be limited to archiving just the current year. This group will work closely with the Communication Committee. |

Fish House Preservation Committee This is a new committee formed with the intent of determining what repairs are needed towards the preservation of the Fish House. This committee will work in conjunction with Swampscott’s Historical Commission. Together, these two groups will make their recommendations to the D.P.W. |
